Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Swindon provides primary, secondary and community services to patients across Swindon and Wiltshire. Swindon is one of the fastest growing areas in the country and we may not know all that the future holds, but we are continuously searching for ways to ensure patients have access to high quality, sustainable services in the years ahead.

We have exciting plans to upgrade services on the Great Western Hospital site through our Way Forward Programme, including an expanded and co-located urgent and emergency care service, and a centre of excellence for rehabilitation. We have also just begun work on Swindon's first Radiotherapy Centre which will be provided by OUH NHS FT.

We are also seeking to invest significantly in our digital infrastructure to help with the integration of services to improve patient care. Whilst having the right infrastructure in place is essential, the real potential lies within the 4,500 staff and volunteers who work for the Trust. We are committed to investing in training, development and leadership opportunities for our staff. This will be delivered through our Organisational Development Programme, with a strong focus on Quality Improvement.

To help the Trust deliver its ambitions, our Executive Team is welcoming a new Director of Improvement and Partnership. This is a new role within the Executive Team and the Trust Board, aiming to drive improvement across our services and to get the very best out of the resources we have available to us. This appointment follows recent appointments of Director of Finance & Strategy and Chief Nurse.

We recognise that improvement potential exists within our ability to build strong and lasting partnerships with the many organisations in the health, social care and wider economic space and we want someone who will help us unleash this potential. With our partners across Bath & North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire (BSW), we are aiming to become an Integrated Care System in 2021 and this is a great time to build on the work done to date to strengthen our local partnerships. You will work closely with our partners to identify improvements that are not about the short term immediate impact, but sustainable improvements that future generations can benefit from.

Responsibilities will also include leading the Project Management Office, ensuring transformational projects deliver, working with our IT and Informatics Leads to maximise the use of digital technology to improve decision making and care and working with our clinical teams to help deliver improvements to reduce variation.

Now is the right time to join the Trust for someone who is ambitious for what they can deliver for local communities. As a secondary, community and primary care organisation, the span of influence and potential for change is massive; an opportunity not many NHS organisations are able to offer.

The successful candidate will be experienced in leading major projects and implementing transformational change or new initiatives, whilst striving for the best value for money. Having knowledge of the wider NHS agenda, the environment we operate in and the people we serve is not a pre-requisite but having the right values is. We are also looking for a candidate who is committed to continue to support our efforts to build a truly open and inclusive culture.
This role is ideal for someone who is relentless in their pursuit of outstanding care for our community, and is truly inclusive and compassionate in how they lead.

Whilst our Executive Team does not yet fully reflect the people we serve, we are committed to ensuring it will. We will support any successful candidate to be the best version of themselves and we would therefore like to encourage applicants from any underrepresented groups.

If you believe that you have the experience, skills and ambition required for this role, please contact Eleanor Hughes on 01793 607975 or email
