Project Manager – T1000 rough sleeping initiative
Starting salary: £51,669 per annum (pay award pending)
Fixed term post for 12 months – available as fixed term contract or secondment
Want to play your part in ending rough sleeping in London?
This new post will project manage an exciting new initiative to find a sustainable end to rough sleeping for around 1,000 of London's most complex and long-term homeless people. This new initiative sits at the heart of a Life Off the Streets programme to end rough sleeping in the capital involving London local authorities, the Greater London Authority, central government, health partners, and the voluntary and community sector. We are looking for a highly motivated person with experience, innovative ideas and the ability to project manage an initiative with multiple partners within a challenging policy environment.
The post will sit within the Policy and Public Affairs Directorate at London Councils, which represents the 32 boroughs and the City of London. This is a new role reporting to the Rough Sleeping Programme Director at London Councils, fixed term for 12 months initially.
London is currently in a position where an end to rough sleeping is in sight. Building on the success of the Everyone In campaign, initiatives such as this one will play an integral part in ensuring that those people sleeping rough whose needs might mean housing and support solutions are more challenging will not be left behind. The scale and nature of the challenge demands innovative solutions at borough, sub-regional and pan-London level that draw on all the strengths of the partners involved.
You will have a good understanding of practice and policy in relation to rough sleeping, have experience of creative problem solving at both an individual and partnership level, and be able to manage a varied workload in a pressurised environment. This is a matrix role, and successful outcomes for rough sleepers will require you to possess strong communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
In particular, this role will facilitate and monitor activity with the target cohort, working closely with the responsible London local authorities, local outreach and housing/support services, and the Greater London Authority. It will involve you in highlighting, and finding ways of overcoming, barriers for individuals in leaving the streets and finding sustainable housing and support solutions. You will lead sub-regional meetings where casework and solutions will be discussed and agreed.
External and internal secondments are welcome.
This is a politically restricted post.
Closing date for applications: 31 Jan 2022 at 12 noon
